Fyrsta regla í pólitík: Aldrei ljúga að David Letterman

Í kosningabaráttunni í Ameríku hefur stríðshetjan John McCain breyst í raðlygara. Það virðist sem svo að hann geti logið endurtekið að almenningi og blaðamönnum án þess að það hafi neinar gríðarlegar afleiðingar. Núna gekk hann hinsvegar of langt og á mögulega eftir að sjá eftir því. John McCain hringdi í David Letterman og laug upp í opið geðið á honum.

Hérna er brot úr þætti Letterman í gærkvöldi þar sem hann segir frá því að John McCain, sem átti að vera aðalgestur þáttarins, geti ekki mætt og svo þegar hann kemst að því að McCain sagði honum ekki allan sannleikann í símtali fyrr um daginn.

They know exactly what they are doing. It’s not a mistake. It’s deliberate. The world would be a different place if things had always been like this.
